Lotta is a choreographer, who primarily manages her own projects, often in close collaboration with other artist such as musicians, composers, singers, sound and visual artists, as well as with other choreographers, directors, film makers and poets of high international esteem.
She has extensive experience in experimental art and new media, including collaborations with the sound professor Christina Kubisch, Berlin, Die Audiogruppe, Berlin, and the video artist Kathy Hinde, Bristol. For many years Lotta has explored the connection between sound and movement in her art and uses herself as an instrument. She has participated as a musician on a number of CDs and has released the highly-acclaimed double record "Illegal Parking" with the musician and composer Maja Ratkje at the Kning Disc record company.
Based in Stockholm, Lotta tours nationally and internationally. Over the past 10 years she has worked in Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Guatemala, Italy, Ireland, Korea, Monaco, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Germany, USA, Austria, Japan and England. Melin has participated in a number of festivals including the Avantofestival in Helsinki, the Roma Europa Festival in Rome, the Koda Festival in Oslo, the Outer Ear Festival in Chicago, the Guldbenkien Festival in Lisbon, the All Ears Festival in Oslo, the SKIF-8 festival in St.Petersburg, the 25th Utah Arts Festival in New Heaven, and the New Genre Festival IX in Oklahoma.
She is a member of AGRARE, a performance group that also includes the Norwegian musicians Maja Ratkje and Hild Sofi Tafjord. AGRARE has been on tour in Belgium, Norway, Italy, Russia, Spain, Austria, Finland, England and Sweden since its establishment in 2002.
Melin's more recent production is "No answer from Polar station Zebra" which premiered on the streets of Stockholm and the ice-skating rink in the Kungsträdgården park in central Stockholm on February 12, 2009. A piece for 100 amateurs, 3 professional figure skaters set to newly composed music by Leif Elggren.
During this years Venice Biennale she performed in “Destruction of Africa” at the Arsenale in Jan Håfström's installation "The Eternal Return" and in the performance “La Buena Muerte”.
